For a while now, I have sent in my wallpapers here. I know that you are very nitpicky about what will get accepted, so I only send in what I think is the best of my works, the ones which I've leaned back and looked upon, and then thought: "How did I even do this?" about.
So why were all of them declined?
Only one of my works this far has ever been accepted, and arguably it could be one of my worse works on later times. I can understand why some of them were declined, Crystals for example was a little too all over the place, and if I ever tried to submit Mu it deserves to be declined forever. I realized about a week ago that some of them were declined because of the "Wallpaper packs may only contain multiple resolutions, not various wallpapers." rule and thus withdrew the Seasons wallpaper pack. Then this was accepted. Twice. So I tried again. And were declined again.
I'm not saying that this could somehow compete with something like that. That's much better than I ever will be. But maybe it could with that? I hate to be someone who whines about their art not being accepted, but I'm really curious.
What am I doing wrong?

Sometimes, even when a piece is eligible (meaning that it meets all criteria to be accepted into the group), a piece can still be declined by voting members based on their aesthetic preferences. Voting members in this Group are able to look at a piece, and discern for themselves whether the color palette, use of white space, composition, design, etc - are all things they find appealing. Or think that others might find appealing. Does a piece look polished? Could we see that in use on our desktop or would we recommend it?

The group was founded by, and is moderated by former CR Team members. Initially, almost every piece that went into this group, was something that had the honest potential to receive a Daily Deviation. Recognized for excellence. As time has gone on, those guidelines have loosened a little. And not all voting members are or ever were on the CR Team. Some of them are just awesome deviants who love Wallpapers, and make great art.

THIS is your best piece... :pointr:

Fantastic Fractals by Irinore

Make more like that. You don't have to be afraid of color. But you have to consider good design. What is good use of space, and composition in general. Many of your other works look pixelated, jagged, and sloppy.  I don't say that to be judgmental. I'm not proud of everything in my gallery either. Remember it's not how simple or complex a piece is that makes it awesome. It's how well the overall design and execution "works". You have potential. Neither you, nor your art is made of fail. Keep at it, and I hope my response isn't overly lengthy or nonsensical.

Naah, it's not nonsensical. Possibly long, but I don't care about that. I'm only replying late because I got distracted.
Personally, I'd say that the one you say is the best is very...everywhere, what with the spirals being a little too articulated and repeated. Lowering the contrast could possibly help, and then maybe doing something about the center.
While I can understand "jagged" and "sloppy" I don't think they are "pixelated". Now I know they look pixelated in the thumbnails, but I wouldn't call the picture itself pixelated. (Example. Compare to the thumbnail) Now, if you weren't looking at the thumbnails that statement just got awkward for me. But whatevs. Actually do you know how to fix thumbnails to not shrink the pictures billineary?
Thanks for the critique and information! I already suspected that there was a lot of quality control for what would get accepted, but it helps anyway to know where you have your standard.
...
I'm sorry if I don't make sense, it's late and I need to go to bed.
I was going to write something longer before I realized how late it was, so I'll just going to sum it up:
No hard feelings
Of course I won't give up
Something about what I consider my best work, but I think I'm too tired to put it in a way that wouldn't make me come across as too self-centered.
Something about how good the reply made me feel

And high fives

Hey  Thank you for asking for critique from us!

Personally I think your artwork has a long way to go. I know that abstract work can be especially subjective, but your pieces are very (forgive me for sounding rude) amateurish. For example, if we look at this piece - Atonal Alpha - I feel it would be a lot better without the symbol in the middle. The symbol looks badly drawn and out of place. It distracts from the lovely effect you've achieved in the circle designs.

If a pack is incredible, we may let it through as an exception to the rules. From your pack - Four Seasons - I really quite like the one at the 6 o'clock position, and would love to see that as a separate submission!

Please don't take this criticism to heart and give up. Keep working at it, and keep giving yourself the "how did I even do this" feeling - there's nothing better than putting your heart into your art!

None offense taken. "Amateurish" is almost a compliment for me. Because that's kind of what I am.
Thanks for the reply! I'm sorry if mine is a little late, but...distractions happened. Also my browser decided to redirect me to another random site while I was typing this and everything disappeared. Deviantart needs a reply-draft system.

I have already taken upon me to make one wallpaper for every single greek letter there is, so sadly that won't stop in a while. Although I'm more than two thirds completed.
But it raises a question. Do you think I should upload the wallpaper backgrounds which effectively could stand on their own legs to deviantart?

I probably won't upload the 6 o'clock wallpaper separately since it's already part of two packs (the Seasons, and the subpack Summer/ιota, which was separately uploaded before Seasons) and it would feel kinda like spamming my watchers with basically the same content if I'd do it again.

Of course I will take the criticism to heart. And then I will let it grow and improve me. I'm not giving up on wallpapers because someone told me how I can do them better, that's silly.
Also, while we are on criticism, can I ask you to look at a specific piece? Specifically, this one, which is what I personally consider my magnum opus in momento.
Sorry for the short in retrospect it's rather long actually and probably confusing reply, it's [many] hours since I should have gone to sleep.

Glad to hear I haven't bummed you out with my comment :D So many people on DA take criticism to heart and get really aggressive... I'll go comment on your other wallpaper separately :)

Declined both my field and holding moss wallpaper?
Is it because of the resolution??

I don't know. I voted yes for the Holding Moss one, but I haven't even seen you submit the other. It's best when you ask on the Deviation Submission process itself, rather than on the front of the Group, simply because it allows us to immediately see and reference what you're asking about.
